RUGBY FOOTBALL

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —An examination of the balance sheet of the O.RF.U. for the past season, as published in that body’s 1933 Annual, discloses an interesting fact. Apparently, while the Otago boys’ High School pays £4 for the use of the Carisbrook Ground on its annual sports day, the Pirates Football Club obtains the use of the ground (and dressing rooms, lighting, ( etc.) for at least two nights a week during the season for only £5 ss. Surely also this £5 5s is a very small rental when one considers the much greater expense to which other clubs must be put to provide training facilities for their members. Perhaps someone can explain away this apparent anomaly, or is it to be explained by the preponderance of supporters of the Pirates Club on the Rugby Union? —I am, etc., Dunedin, June 21. Equality.
