RACING IN AUSTRALIA
WIN FOR HIGH DISDAIN. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, June 21. (Received June 21, at 8.45 p.m.) At the Victoria Park races to-day the New Zealand horse Counterplay was not permitted to start in the Nursery Handicap, the stewards finding that his registration papers were not in order. High Disdain started twice and won the second division of the Flying Handicap, but was beaten out of a place in the Welter Handicap, which was won by Kodapen. MISHAP IN HURDLE RACE. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, June 21. (Received June 21, at 10.20 p.m.) Five jumpers fell in the Trial Hurdles at Mentone to-day. Morwell ran down a jump, and four others came down. Gleeson, the rider of Egyptian News, Dillon, the rider of Attempt, and Nelson, the rider of Seraglio, were hurt, but Gleeson later recovered and was able to ride Announcer in the Brush Steeplechase. He was compelled, however, to pull his mount up.?. He dismounted and collapsed.
