WATER DIVINING
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,—A correspondent quotes Dr Marshall in condemnation of the practice of water divining. Some time ago you had a leading article on the Arapuni scheme, in which you stated a water diviner claimed to have located water under the power station. I wrote stating I was sceptical about the efficacy of this .practice, and since that letter was written drilling showed that no water _ was present. This so-called divination is purely conjecture and guesswork and, unfortunately, farmers and others have incurred great expense in sinking wells on the advice ox these so-called diviners.— I am, etc.. Doubtful.
