THE WOOL INDUSTRY
PRODUCTION AND MARKETING BROADCAST ADDRESS BY MINISTER (Per United Press Association i WELLINGTON, June 20. With a view to stimulating interest in the conference of wool growers to be held in Wellington to-morrow, the Minister of Lands (Mr E. A. Ransom) delivered a broadcast address to-night on the production and marketing of wool, particularly crossbred. After mentioning that for the past four years the growers of wool, together with other primary producers, had been in receipt of prices far below the cost of production, Mr Ransom said the object of the conference was to devise ways and means of improving their position,. He appealed to the wool growers to look at the movement from the broad point of view of the betterment of their industry, to take more pride in it, and at the same time to help one another to better returns and a more assured future. <( Better times will come,” he said, and it behoves us to put our house m order and be ready for the turning . U e tic * e °‘ Prosperity, That is why the Government is behind this wool improvement scheme. We cannot start too soon, and the Government is willing and anxious to assist in every way it possibly can, leaving the initiative to the wool producers themselves.”
