STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FURTHER SURPRISES. SYDNEY, June 20. The third and fourth rounds of the New South Wales Amateur Championship provided further upsets. G. Grandemange confounded his critics by downing George Thompson at the nineteenth, and H. Cutler unexpectedly defeated Apperley, 3 and 2. Dobson won only on the last green from W, Carter. Hattersley beat G. Smith, 8 and 5. YOUTHFUL PLAYER’S WIN. SYDNEY, June 20. (Received June 20, at 10.15 p.m.) In the amateur golf championship features of the quarter finals to-day were the defeat of the veteran W, Dobson by the 17-year-old Allan Waterson, 1 up, and the downfall of Keane, who was beaten by I. Harrison, 3 and 2. Aersley accounted for Lee-Brown, 3 and 2, and Fawcett was hard pressed to beat G. Grandemange, 1 up. BRITISH AMATEUR TITLE THE HOLDER DEFEATED. LONDON, June 19. There was a sensation at the Amateur' Golf Championship at Hoylake when G. Hannay, an ex-French champion, defeated the holder, John De Forest, at the twentieth hole in the second round. Ross Sftmorville, the CanadianAmerican amateur champion, and George Dunlop, the American Walker Cup player, both won their games in the second round.
