DESTRUCTIVE FIRES FILM COMPANY’S LOSS. SYDNEY, June 20. (Received June 20, at 7 p.m.) A fire in the Pox Film premises gutted the upper storey. Although £SOOO worth of equipment was salved, the amplification apparatus, which must be replaced from the United States, was destroyed. Fireman Reaney was injured in the leg by flying glass. Emergency equipment to maintain the Movietone service is being rushed from Melbourne. Henry’s weaving mills at Brskineville were razed to the ground this morning by fire. The extent of the damage is not available. ' . MAIL BAGS STOLEN THIEVES ESCAPE IN OAR. SYDNEY, June 20. (Received June 20, at 7 p.m.) While a mailman was clearing a box in a nearby building thieves stole three bags of general mails from, a postal car outside the George street entrance of the Wynward station in the presence of hundreds of people, who were not suspicious that anything untoward was happening. The thieves escaped in a waiting car. The mail included very little of value. STATE LOTTERIES NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED, SYDNEY, June 20. (Received June 20, at 11.40 p.m.) The Government has appointed Mr Robert J. Colvin director of State Lotteries in succession to Mr Whiddon, who is about to retire. Mr Colvin is at present chief accountant in the State Treasury and is 62 years of age.
