AN UNSATISFACTORY. POSITION /many TENANTS IN, ARREARS. (Per United Press Association.) . CHRISTCHURCH, June 20. n Serious allegations against the conduct of some of the eale and purchase “tenants” workers’ dwellings, owned by. the ; Christchurch City Council were made by members of the Housing Subcommittee at a meeting* of the council. were taken by .the 'Council to .resume possession of apy of the; houses where the owners were considered unsatisfactory, but it was made clear that these powers were not to be used where a genuine attempt was being made by the owners to meet their obligations. It was reported that many owners of dwellings were in arrears and were not making a reasonable effort to pay their instalments, and, further, that one tenant had disappeared, takiim an electric range and blinds.
