CLYDE NOTES
(From- Our Own Correspondent.) CLYDE, June 19. MINING. Parties of unemployed men arc still engaged in tunnelling and washing'■•with very varied success. Owing to the looseness of the gravel, timbering is being resorted to and entails a large amount of additional labour. An inspector of the Mines Department was in the district last week and travelled over the areas now being worked and inspected the tunnels. Whilst no finds of a sensational nature are reported hereabouts, a few men have had some encouragement and express-themselves still hopeful of better prospects as they get further underground. HOCKEY. The local hockey team met the Alexandra High School team at Alexandra and won an interesting game by 4 goals to 2. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs A. Henderson, of Oamaru, took possession on Thursday of the Commercial Hotel. Very extensive alterations and improvements have been made to the interior of the building. The business' carried on for so many years by Mr Ben Naylor, and later by Miss A. E. Naylor,„has been leased for a term of years by Mr Thompson, of Dunedin,
