OBITUARY
MRS W. STEVENSON (Special to Daily Times.) INVERCARGILL, June 19. The death of Mrs Stevenson, wife of Mr W. Stevenson, M.L.C., occurred on Sunday at the age of 08 years. Born in Liverpool, England, she was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Lament, In 1870 she came, with her parents, to New Zealand, and settled in Dunedin, where her father became one of the first representatives in New Zealand of the well-known firm of Messrs Briscoe and Co. Later he. removed to Oamaru. In 1891 she married Mr Stevenson when he was managing the Wairuna estate, in the Clutha district. Subsequently they took up fanning in the Taieri district. Later they lived at Hillgrovc, North Otago, for „a time, and then, 32 years ago, removed to Invercargill. Although slie took no part in public life, Mrs Stevenson was widely known and was held in the highest regard by a large circle of friends. Mr and Mrs Stevenson had two children, Mr J. H. Stevenson, of Balelutha, and Mrs James Smith, of Invercargill.
