PATTERSON DRAWS WITH WALKER. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 19. A very strenuous wrestling contest was witnessed to-night when Jack Patterson (America) drew with George Walker (the New Zealand and British Empire champino) at the end of eight rounds. Each man gained one fall, Patterson getting the first with a press after lifting his opponent and dumping him heavily. Walker evened matters in the next round with a slam following an aeroplane spin, Patterson put up an unexpectedly fane resistance, especially in the final round, when he was almost continuously fastened in hammer locks. He was obviously in great difficulties, but refrained, from submission until the gong saved him. AL PEREIRA DEFEATS BLAKE, (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 19. In eight rounds of clever, clean wrestling, Al Pereira (15.10) defeated “Whiskers” Blake (15.0) before a large audience at the Town Hall to-night by two falls to one. The contest was. marked throughout by scientific wrestling and was devoid of showmanship. Pereira secured a fall in the third round with a severe head scissors, and Blake evened in the sixth round with a body scissors and headlock. Pereira secured the deciding fall in the eighth and final round with a back slam.
