The meeting considered the desirability of a•. trial match beforehand, and it was decided to arrange a match with North Otago at Palmertson on July 1, the juniors to play a Possible v. Probable match as a curtain-raiser. If North Otago found themselves unable to travel it was decided that the seniors should play a Possible v. Probable match as well on that date. Mr M. WHkinson was appointed referee for the junior match on July 1, and Mr C. M. Olsen for the senior match on the same date. The retirement of Macraes from the competition having created some difficulty in the arrangement of the draw, it was agreed to move the Shag Point v. Karitane game from Palmerston to Waikouaiti,, the Shag Point team to receive £2 towards expenses in this connection. The Shag Point team having no home ground, and thus having to travel to every match, it was decided to grant that club £5 towards travelling expenses. Davies; continuing his series of talks on " The Establishment and Management of Grasslands," spoke on ' The Sowing Down of Pastures," emphasising the fact that glasslands were New Zealand's greatest asset in cropping. Environment must be considered in the selection of seeds. It was false economy to select other than the finest types of seeds, especially for permanent pastures. The speaker concluded an interesting address with instructions for the sowing of the seeds and details of the best mixtures. •: •'•■;...' i The following members of the club will attend the educational course in Dunedin this week: —Messrs N.
