ART UNION PROCEEDS

ALLOCATION ANNOUNCED £IO.OOO FOR RELIEF OF DISTRESS (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 15. The allocation of the proceeds of the “Luck at Last” art union, for which tickets are at present being sold, was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr J. A. Young) this evening. - Included in the distribution will be £IO,OOO for the relief of distress throughout New Zealand. The remainder of the proceeds will be distributed as follows: £IOOO to the Wellington Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association Mortuary Fund and £250 to the Rev. T. Fielden Taylor’s Wellington City Mission men’s shelter. The basis of distribution of the £IO,OOO for the relief of distress will be the same as that adopted on the occasion of a previous art union. This money will be made available on a pro rata basis_ on the latest unemployment registrations available. The Auckland share _ will go to the Mayor’s Central Metropolitan Relief Committee, and that of other cities and boroughs to the Mayor’s relief funds. All other centres showing unemployed registrations of 30 and over will participate.
