RESTORED TO THE ROLL

A SOLICITOR’S APPEAL, EXONERATED ON CONSPIRACY CHARGE, (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) : SYDNEY, June 15. (Received June 15, at 10 p.m.) The Full Court to-day restored to the roll of solicitors Thomas Ernest Rofe, a prominent citizen whose name was removed from the role 38 years ago after a conviction for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in a notable divorce suit, in which concocted evidence of misconduct was brought against Mrs Mary Butler. The Chief Justice said that the court exonerated Mr Rofe from any suggestion that he was a party to the preparation of the concocted evidence. Mr Rofe at the time was at a disadvantage, because there was no court of criminal appeal. Mr Rofe is 64 years of age to-day. He declared that it was the finest birthday gift he had ever received.
