David Rosenthal, alias David Ross, pleaded not guilty to-day, and was committed for trial on two charges of obtaining goods valued at £l5B 18s 2d from Reginald 6. Kain by false pretences and one charge of stealing £36 6s 7d in - money, the property of Alfred George Barton. It was alleged that the accused went to Kain’s warehouse in Wellington, and, on the representation that the goods he was ordering were for'Mr Kerslake in Masterton, obtained goods to the value of £IOB, and that he then went to Auckland and obtained goods to the value of £SO 18s: 2d by representing that he was Kerslake. He subsequently conducted auction sales in towns on the east coast, selling the goods at rates below cost and never accounting to Kain for the money.
