OBITUARY
MRS BRAND Last week, in the Dunedin Hospital, tliere passed away suddenly Mrs Brand, an old and well-known resident in former years of Owaka. Mrs Brand was the youngest daughter of the late Mr Janies Dutton, of the “ Bridge,” and was for many years well known in musical circles. She was organist and choir leader of the Presbyterian Church when it was first opened in the district, her father having lent his organ to the church until it was in a position to buy one. This position, as well as that of Sunday school teacher, music teacher, and Band of Hope worker, she conscientiously filled for over 12 years. After her, marriage, Mrs Brand left the district with her husband, who taught in various schools under the Otago Education Board. Her remains were taken to Owaka for interment.
