THE ASCOT MEETING

STEVE DONOGHUE THROWN DEATH OF FAMOUS TRAINER. , LONDON, June 14. (Received June 10, at 0.25 a.m.) The Royal Ascot meeting opened sensationally. Steve Donoghue was thrown heavily when Tavern dashed through the barrier at the start of the Prince of Wales Stakes. Subsequently the stewards suspended Michael Beary for the remainder of the meeting. Beary was also thrown. He denies that he caused the accident by trying to beat the start. The famous trainer, F. Leader, who trained Gainslow, the winner of the Ascot Gold Vase yesterday, was motoring home from Newmarket with his wife at midnight when he crashed into a lorry. Both were killed.
