SPANISH SUCCESSION

PRINCE OF THE ASTURIAS RIGHTS TO THRONE RENOUNCED. PARIS, June 13. It is stated that the Prince of the Asturias, at the instigation of the Duke of Miranda, has renounced his rights to the Spanish succession. The title reverts to Don Jaime. Surprise was recently caused by the announcement that the Prince of the Asfurias, ex-King Alfonso’s eldest son, intended to marry a Cuban, Senorita de san Pedro. A cable message stated that it was known that he suffered from haemophilia, a constitutional tendency towards bleeding. Ex-King Alfonso had long ago warned the prince that he would be disinherited in the event of his marriage. It was reported that he had said that royal rights counted for nothing with him. He intended to act as an ordinary citizen. Don Jaime is the ex-king’s second son.
