Christian Brothers forced the pace from the kick off and City was kept busy defending until a free kick gave relief. The Green forwards made repeatd onslaughts, and, gained ground only to be repulsed by solid tackling. Hayden eventually sent the Greens back to halfway. A free kick to City was taken by Barbara, but the attempt at goal was fruitless. A minute later Boreham broke through and transferred to Williams, who scored near the posts. Nelson converted. The Greens removed play to the other end, but City returned to the attack, and a fine movement by the backs ended in Hopcraft scoring at the corner. Hayden failed w-ith the kick. Just before halt time the City backs almost broke through the defence. City 8 points, Christian Brothers nil. City set up a strong attack after the gamewas resumed, and the Greens were hard pressed. Williams led a City forward rush, and Ginders was almost over. The Greens retaliated with a strong rush, and the next minute play was in City’s territory. The next incident of note was a strong run by T. O’Connor. Schmelz then secured and scored a fine try, which O’Malley converted. The Greens kept up the pressure, and after some good play by the forwards T. O’Connor went over for a try, which O’Malley failed to convert. City attacked, but J. O'Connor and O’Malley relieved, and play hovered near midfield for some time. City gradually' worked hack, and some strenuous play followed until the close of the game. The final scores were: Christian Brothers .. 8 points. City 8 points. Mr B. Eckhoff was referee. PACIFIC v. ATHLETIC The teams were:— Pacific. —Reid, Blackwood, De Courcey, Bryan, J. Hill, Smith, Steffans, Mason, Burns, Ryan. Aston, MTndoe, Townsend. Athletic—M’Donakl, Gardiner, Gray, J. Duncan, Loades, Arrandale, Harwood, Anderson, Munro, Lawless, Crosado, Tobin, Martin, Stevens, M'Cormack. Athletic had the better of the exchanges in the opening stages, the Pacific men being forced back to their line. Some ’up-and-down play followed, neither side gaining much advantage until Bryan broke through, only to send out a bad pass when near the line. Athletic returned to the attack, and a dribbling rush by the forwards resulted in Arrandale scoring wide out. M’Donald missed with the kick. Athletic continued to hold the upper hand, the forwards putting in some good work. A strong run by Munro looked dangerous, but he was brought down with a fine tackle by De Courcey. A penalty to Athletic a minute late was taken by Loades, who kicked a goal from the side line. When half time was called play was in midfield. Athletic 5 points, Pacific nil.

Shortly after the resumption Gray secured beyond halfway and made a fine run almost to Pacific’s line, but sent out a wild pass, and a certain score was lost. The next minute Townsend secured, and, racing almost the full length of the field, with several opponents in pursuit, scored between the posts. Reid failed to convert. A forward rush by Pacific immediately afterwards ended in Burns scoring a pood try, which Reid converted. Another try was obtained for Pacific a minute later when MTndoe secured from a cross kick by M'Donald and scored, Reid failing to convert from a wide angle. Pacific again swarmed to the attack, and Aston pushed his way over near the corner. Reid again failed with the kick. The final scores were: Pacific 14 points. Athletic 5 points. Mr B.
