‘THREE WISE FOOLS”

The Strolling Players will present the delightful comedy, “ Three Wise Fools,” in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on June 15, 16, and 17. “Three Wise Fools” gives scope for some fine acting, and has a touch of drama, which was not evident in the three plays previously produced by this company. The story deals with three old friends —a banker, a judge, and a doctor (the “three wise fools”) —who have lived together for many years and who were all in love with the same girl in their youth. They have heard nothing of her for many years, when suddenly they receive word that she has died in abject poverty, leaving her child Sidney to their care. They expect a baby boy, and are very much astonished when a girl of about 20 presents herself. _ The banker’s nephew, Gordon, immediately falls in love with her, but affairs are complicated by the appearance of an escaped criminal, Benny Suratt, who has sworn to kill the judge. From then on scene after scene of humour follows in rapid succession. The cast chosen for this production includes Anita Winkel, Elsie M'Peak, George Salmond, Russell Napier, Douglas Skene, Charles Smith, Gordon Niven, Bert Jones, Roland Wat- < son, Angus Gorrie, and Douglas Dali. Mr* Richard White is the producer. The box plan is now open at the Bristol, and the whole of the proceeds are in aid of the Y.M.C.A. - A LESSON TO DUCK-SHOOTERS. There was one party who returned from a very successful “ day after the ducks,” who owed much to the thoughtfulness of one of their number. This gentleman knew from experience how the long, cold wait for the dawn would affect his party. Before leaving the hut, therefore, he lined them up and gave each a liberal dose of Baxter’s Lung Preserver, and took the bottle out with him on to the lake for the benefit of himself- and those in his immediate vicinity. They got their ducks and missed a chill, and look back on their enjoyable outing with conviction that “ Baxter’s ” should be in every sportsman’s kit. There is nothing like “ Baxter’s ” for keeping away chills, preventing hoarseness and sore throats, and keeping out the cold. This is just a typical instance of the faith everyone has in “ Baxter’s ” and of the way this grand old remedy always brings relief at the critical moment. “Baxter’s” will never let yon down. Wherever you go. whatever you do, insist that “Baxter’s” goes with you. 4s 6d, 2s 6d, and la 6d, at any chemist or store. —Advt.
