HEAVY FROST ,•! A heavy frost was experienced 1 in the Lower Harbour yesterday morning, the. ground being covered in a white mantle; The cold was very intense before sunrise, and pools of water carried a coat-' ing of ice. Sven after mid-day ice was seen on fairly large stretches of water along the railway line between Sawyers’ Bay and Mussel Bay. If was the heaviest frost experienced this season.; ■ NEW SAWYER’S BAY CHURCH f A contract has been accepted for the erection of ’a- new Presbyterian Church at Sawyers’ Bay, and it is expected that the contractor will commence operations in a few days. The church will be constructed of wood, and will be similar in design to the building destroyed; by fire some months ago. Special provision will be made in the new churph for youth ’ work. The church will be located on. the site of the old one, and should be completed about October.PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH J The Port Chalmers Presbyterian Church will hold special services- during the present month. Invitations have been issued to all families and individuals who are associated with the church in any way to attend the services. The principal service to-morrow will be held in the morning, when the quarterly celebration of the Lord’s Supper will be observed. On the evening of June 19 the quarterly woman’s social gathering will be held in the old< church. Last Sunday morning four new elders, recently elected, were ordained and inducted to office. A very, impressive service was conducted by- the minister of the church (the Rev. J. G.' S. Dunn). ' :i ' " .
