“THREE WISE FOOLS”

The Strolling Players will present the delightful comedy “Three Wise Fools” ’in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on June 15, 10 and 17, when it is confidently expected that the successes obtained in “ The Private Secretary,” “Are You a Mason?” and “Nothing But the Truth ” will be repeated. “ Three Wise Fools ” gives scope for some fine acting, and has a touch of drama, which was not evident in the other three plays mentioned above. The story deals with three old friends —a banker, a judge and a doctor (the “Three Wise Fools”) who have lived together for many years and who were all in love with the same o-irl in their youth. They have heard nothing of her for many years, when suddenly they receive word that she has died in abject poverty, leaving her child, Sidney, to their care. They expect a baby boy and are very much astonished when a girl of about 20 presents herself. The banker’s nephew, Gordon, immediately falls in love with her, but affairs arc complicated by the appearance of an escaped criminal, Benny Suratt, who has sworn to kill the judge. From then on things happen quickly. The strong cast which has been selected should do. full justice to the plot. The production is under the capable direction of Richard White. The players include: Anita Winkcl, Elsie M'Pcak, George Salmond, Russell Napier, Douglas Skene, Charles Smith, Gordon Niven, Bert Jones, Roland Watson, Angus Gorrie and Douglas Dali. The box plan opens at the Bristol on Monday and the whole of the proceeds are in aid of the Y.M.C.A.
