THE STRATH-TAIERI SHOW
TO THE EDITOR.
g IB) —I desire to acknowledge Mr Carruthers's letter in your issue of the 6th inst. and to say that I agree with him that further information on the definition of the term "hackney " seems to be desirable. What my definition of a "pit pony" may be is beside the point at issue. I rely chiefly on the authority of a work of which I have left the first volume with you Sir, for my interpretation ot the term "hackney." The publication is entitled "The Horse, its Treatment in Health and Disease," with a complete guide to breeding, etc., by Professor J. Wortley Axe, M.R.C.V.S., ex-president of the Roval College of Veterinary Surgeons, etc I "hope you will be able to reproduce sonic of the beautiful plates it contains lor the information of horsemen and others.— I am, etc., P- M. LAW.
