STRONG TOME MAINTAINED GENERAL RISE IN PRICES (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 3. The last wool sale of the season was held here to-day, with the keenest competition. There was a large attendance of buyers, representing all markets. The offerings were 11,415 bales, and passings were rare. The wool submitted was the usual end-of-season quality. The tone ot the market was strong from the outset, and prices showed a rise_ of Ad to 3d for good style crossbred, which was in short supply and met with exceptionally keen competition from London and Japan, while Bradford was also holding good limits for this class of wool. The few lines of fine style halfbred were in strong demand, and made 9d to lOjd. Medium to low crossbreds appear to "be worth 3d more, but any average oi prices is subject to revision on the making up of the official range of prices. The lambs’ wool market showed decided firmness, and such wools were generally about id dearer. Skirtings were exceedingly firm at late rates. The English buyers were keenly interested in fine crossbreds. German buying was noticeably restrained. and was strictly limited. France, as usual, was an eager purchaser of good style skirting. The New Zealand manufacturers were not active buyers, as there were practically no wools offering that are suitable for their requirements. The official range of prices was as follows: Merino 64/70 and 60/64 — Average, 73d to Bid. Inferior, 73d. Fine halfbred, 56/58 — Average, 8d to 103 d. Inferior, 73d. Medium halfbred, 50/50 — Average, 6Jd to 93d. Extra fine crossbred, 48/50 — Super, 8d to 9jd. Average, 5Jd to 73d. Inferior, 3fd to sd. Fine crossbred, 46/48 — Super, Ci|d to Bd. Average, 4d to 6<}d. Inferior, 2d to 3fd. Medium crossbred, 44/46 — Super, 6d to 63d. Average, 33d to 53d. Inferior, 2d to 33d. Coarse crossbred, 40/44 — Super, 5d to 53<L Average, 33d to 4Jd. Inferior, lid to 3id. Low crossbred, 36/40 — Super, 4|d. Average, ,23d to 33d. Hoggets—--48/50, 43d to 9d. Fine 46/48, 4d to 81d. Medium 44/46, 3d to 7d. Coarse 40/44, 3fd to 4|d. Low 36/40, 4|d.
