CARGO HANDLED BY FARMERS READY RESPONSE TO CALL. (Pick United I ’res* assoii.vi rox.t NEW PLYMOUTH, April 3. In response to an appeal by the Fanners’ Union about 70 farmers commenced unloading the steamer Port Curtis’s cargo of basic slag this morning. It is understood that the farmers will also load the vessel’s dairy produce allotment. The waterside workers on Saturday refused to handle the vessel’s cargo because two men who had loaded moat during the Waitara strike were included in the gang.
