GOLF CLUB By the courtesy of the president of the Port Chalmers Golf Club, a Daily Times representative paid a visit to the club’s links at Sawyers’ Bay yesterday, and was shown the progress made during the past 10 months. It was explained that after winter play was finished all the greens were top-dressed. The greens certainly have a finished appearance, and now have a fine sole of grass. Three new tees have been built up, and the fairways are now being mowed with a triplex mower, and this will ensure a good playing area for the summer. Those members of the club lesponsible for carrying out the improvements are to be commended _ for their enthusiasm. It is the intention of the committee to acquire more land next season, and the course will thus be lengthened considerably. A large quantity of gorse has been cleared from the sides of the fairways, all the improvements helping to make play a pleasure for members and visitors.
