AUSTRALIA TO ENGLAND CAPTAIN BERTRAM’S FLIGHT (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SOURABAYA, December 12. Captain Bertram had a fine trip. He started from Bima at 2.30 in the afternoon and landed at Sourabaya at 6.30 (local time). After leaving Bima the mechanic (Allen) detected a stowaway, who was immediately arrested on arrival at Sourabaya. Captain Bertram stated that the flight hitherto had been hampered only by strong head winds. He intends leaving at sunrise, and hopes to reach Medan in one hop. CRASH AT SOURABAYA. PLANE TOO HEAVILY LOADED. SOURABAYA, December 13. While attempting to take off at 4 o’clock this morning, Captain Bertram’s aeroplane, which was too heavily loaded, failed to rise, and ran into a ditch at the end of the field, and crashed. The landing gear and propeller were smashed. Captain Bertram and Allen were uninjured. THE STOWAWAY. AN UNEMPLOYED YOUTH. DARWIN, December 13. (Received Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.) The stowaway on Bertram’s plane is believed to be identical with the 20-year-old Jack Dodson, who was reported to be missing from the unemployed camp after midnight on Sunday. No watchman was guarding the plane. MRS MOLLISON'S FLIGHT. PLANE OVERDUE AT DUALA. LONDON, December 13. (Received Dec. 14, at 0.30 a.m.) Twenty-two hours have passed -without news of Mrs Amy Mollison, who was last reported to be .flying strongly over Loanda, cn route •to Duala', where she was due yesterday, FLYING UPSIDE DOWN. RECORD BY FRENCH PILOT. PARIS, December 13. (Received Dec. 14, at 0.30 a.m.) An airman, Captain Detroyat, flew upside down at Villa Coublay for 26 minutes, which is claimed to be a record. ■
