Major Hore-Belisha (Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade) told a questioner in the House of Commons that British imports of gold bullion and coin from India from September 21, 1931, when the gold standard was ‘suspended, to December 9, 1932, totalled £07,500,000.
