BRITAIN'S UNEMPLOYED
PENSIONS NOT TO COUNT,

In reference to the Government's intention to remove the complaint that the means test, which is imposed before certain of the unemployed are granted relief, penalises thrift, tin Daily Express states that the authorities will probably not count as means war and other pensions up to £1 a week, small properties, and workmen's ••ompensations' awards up to £SOO. It is stated that some of the unemployed were forced to sell their houses at great loss before they were granted relief.
A MARCH ON LONDON
LONDON, October 24. (Received Oct. 24, at 9 p.m.)
Drenched' and miserable hunger strikers trudged from all directions towards London during the week-end. Flooded roads caused parties to shelter in various towns and demonstrations that were arranged for some places were abandoned. The object of the marchers is to present a petition signed by 1,000,000 unemployed to Mr Ramsay MacDonald, demanding the removal of the means test, the cessation of wage cuts, and a shorter working week.
