MINES TWO MILES HIGH
There are some tin mines in Bolivia 11,000 ft above sea-level, or, roughly, two miles up in the air. The other day a Johannesburg man applied for a job in the mines, ami the question arose whether he would be fit enough to work at such a height. ' -i It vas decided to test the man’s health by taking him up in an aeroplane, and eventually a doctor accompanied him in a Puss Moth machine, which rose to s height ,of 16,00Qft, and made various testr of' bin blood pressure and heart. Tficmam stood thei test and was accepted, for work in the tin mines.
