OUTRAM TOWN BOARD
The first monthly meeting of the newlyelected Outram Town Board was held on Thursday last, and was attended by Commissioners Hendry, Dow, Marshall, Doherty, and Bathgate. Commissioner Hendry was re-elected chairman for the ensuing term. It was decided to forward to the unemployment commissioner and Mr A. E. Ansell, M.P., a request that the unemployed in the country districts be put on the same schedule ns the unemployed workers in the cities. An application from Mr H. W. Stewart to erect a bowser was granted under the usual conditions. An application from the secretary of the Outran) Third Grade Football Club for ' the use of the reserve on block X once a fortnight, as a playing area, was held over until next meeting for a report on the suitability of the ground. An application from the West Taieri Pipe Band , for the use of the Drill Hall one night a ; week for practice was granted free of I charge. A letter was received from the Department of Health intimating that a reduction of 10 per cent, in the contributions made by local authorities towards the salaries and expenses of departmental health inspectors is to date from April 1 last. Accounts amounting to £lO4 were passed for payment.
