“COME TO DUNEDIN” WEEK

TO THE EDITOR. S.tK, —I note in your correspondence column of to-day a letter signed “ Neglected,” with reference to the street lighting for “ Come to Dunedin ” Week. As a ratepayer of many years standing, I should like to add my plea as to our being neglected at the south end of the city. When it is realised _ that we have been ratepayers of the city for a far greater length of time than the occupiers of property in the section of George street from Hanover street to Frederick street, surely we are entitled to some consideration. Our claim is the greater when the show buildings are situated in our end of the city. Surely from Rattray street to Carroll street, or even to Manor place, is, from a business point of view, far more valuable as a centre than the north end. It is coming to this, that Dunedin is going to be cut in half with a residential area and a business area and a no-man’s hyid (Princes street south) in between. — I am, etc., Sodtii End. Dunedin, May 19. 5
