DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB

1932-1933 SEASON,

The monthly meeting of the District Committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club held yesterday was attended by Messrs Hanlon, Hazlett. Goughian, Potts, Samson, Irwin and Lough. The following dates for Jthc 1932-33 racing season were recommended: —Otago Hunt Club, August 27; Kurow Jockey Club, October 1; Oamaru Jockey Club — January 3, March 23 and 25, July 1; Waikouaiti Racing Club, January 2; Tapanui, Racing Club, February 1; Vincent Jockey Club, January 14 and 16; Cromwell Jockey Club, March 10 and 11; Tuapeka Jockey Club, April 15; Beaumont ' Racing Club, April 17 ; Dunedin Jockey Club—October 13 and 15, December 26 and 27, February 9 and 11, May 31, June 1 and 3. Applications by Waikouaiti and Beaumont Racing Clubs for extra days were recommended provided suitable days could be found. Mr A. C. Hanlon was appointed the committee’s representative on the Dates and Licensing Committee. MONTHLY MEETING. ,

The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club held yesterday was attended by Messrs Hanlon, Hazlett, Lough, Irwin, Goughian, Edmond, Fisher, Cook, A. N. Smith, Dr Batchelor and Dr Ross. Messrs Hanlon and Hazlett were appointed the club’s representatives to the New Zealand Racing Conference. The following Judicial Committee was appointed for the winter meeting:—Messrs Hanlon, Cook, Goughian, Fisher and A. N. Smith. It was resolved that the admission charge to the lawn for the winter meeting be 7s 6d.

It was resolved to engage the Unemployed Band for the three days of the meeting. „ _ Messrs C. N. Draper and F, Tyson were appointed honorary stewards to assist at the winter meeting. The matter of stakes for the classic races for the 1932-33 season was deferred until after the winter meeting. Permission was granted to Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. to hold a sale of bloodstock at Wingatui on June 2,

Messrs Hanlon, Hazlett, Goughian, Lough and A. N. Smith were appointed the club’s representatives on the District Committee. _ . It was resolved to write to the Taien County Council pointing out the danger and inconvenience caused by cars parking outside the gates at the racecourse on race days and asking it to take steps to stop the practice.
