THE WAKEFIELD CONTEST LABOUR CANDIDATE’S SUCCESS. LONDON, April 21. The Wakefield by-election resulted as follows: — : , f A. Greenwood (Lab.) .. .. 13,587 A. E ; . Greaves (Nat. Con.) 13,243 This is a gain for Labour. Mr Greenwood was Minister of Health in the. last Labour Cabinet. He was defeated at the general election for the Nelson seat. The polling for the Wakefield seat at .the general election was as follows: —Dr G. B. Hillman (Con.), 15,881;: G. H. Sherwood (Lab.), 11,774.
