With the flags 40 feet out on the course proper at Randwick this morning the going was excellent. Veilmond had slightly the better of Penthaus over seven furlongs, run in Imin 29sec. Love Song did a mile nicely in Imin 49sec. Prolyso beat Jonker over half a mile in slsec. Cathmar led Demid and Nea Lap at the end of eight furlongs, in Imin 45Jsec. Magnetic defeated Chide and Curcis in the same time, while Waterline took a second less to down Admiral Drake.

Casque d’Or led Old Mine over seven furlongs in Imin 30sec. Jeypore ran eight furlongs in Imin 46sec. Carry On was too good for Mira Donna, covering nine furlongs in Imin 591 sec. Pretzel beat Maurice Bede over 10 furlongs in 2min 12isec in a decent cup gallop. Chatham led' Middle Watch over nine furlongs in Imin 59sec on sufferance. Kuvera spurted three furlongs in 36sec—smart time.
