OAMARU BOXING ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, March 22. There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Oamaru Amateur Boxing Association last night. Mr G. M'Leod occupied the chair. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr J. Stevenson; vicepresidents—Messrs 0. R. Wise, J. Tisdall, W. P. Reid; secretary, Mr J. D. Forbes; treasurer, Mr R. Finch; auditor, Mr R. Meldrum; committee —Messrs G. M'Leod, A. S. Blackledge, H. and T. Nightingale, J. Simpson, F. Cawley, J. Webb. W. Kinder.

A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officers for their services to the association.

On behalf of the committee, Mr J. Simpson thanked Mr M'Leod for his good work during hie term of office as president.—Mr M'Leod acknowledged the cooperation and assistance of the committee and the secretary, and assured his suecensor of full support during the coming season.

Mr Stevenson endorsed Mr Simpson's remarks, and expressed the hope that the coming season would be equally as successful as the past one. The annual subscription was fixed at 10s.

At ■ a subsequent committee meeting a letter was received from the Mayoress’s Advisory Committee soliciting financial assistance for the Relief Committee. —It was decided to make a grant of £2 2s to the relief fund and to stage a benefit tournament, the net proceeds to go to the fund. Messrs Stevenson and Forbes were empowered to meet the Advisory Committee to make further necessary arrangements. Messrs T. Nightingale, G. M'Leod, and J. Simpson were appointed a Match Committee.
