OBITUARY

DR G. B. HILLMAN MEMBER OF HOUSE OF COMMONS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 20. (Received March 21, at 5.5 p.m.) The death occurred to-day of Dr G. B. Hillman, the Conservative member of Parliament for Wakefield. At the last election he defeated his Labour opponent by 15,881 against 11,774.

MR CHARLES RICHARD BOSSENCE

The death occurred at his residence, 25 Michie street, Roslyn, yesterday of Mr Charles Richard Bossence. Mr Bossence was born in Victoria, where he served as a pupil teacher in one of the largest public schools. After completing his course of studies in the Victorian Training College under the late Mr Gladman, he was placed on the relieving staff of the Victorian Education Board for some time. Later he was appointed an assistant at the Footscray Public School. In 1882 Mr Bossence was selected from a large number of applicants to fill the position of headmaster of the Model School at the Christchurch Training College. He was next appointed first assistant at the District High School, Thames, and later occupied a Similar post at the Port Chalmers District High School. Mr Bossence was subsequently made an inspector under the. Otago Education Board, and on the retirement of Mr Peter Goyen, he was promoted to the position of chief inspector of the Otago education district, from which he retired some years ago.
