JUBILEE CELEBRATED

SALVATION ARMY BAND HYMNS PLAYED FOR ROYALTY. LONDON, March 20. (Received March 21, at 5.5 p.m.) With banners flying, the famous Regent Hall Band of the Salvation Army, celebrating its jubilee, marched to Buckingham Palace forecourt and played a selection of hymns and other tunes. Their Majesties, with Princess Elizabeth and Margaret, gathered in the room above while thousands of people assembled outside. The King requested the band to play his favourite hymn, “ 0 Love That Will Not Let Me Go.” and the Queen asked the band to play “ Jesu, Lover of My Soul,” set to the Welsh tune • “ Aberystwyth.” The band is composed of taxi drivers, artisans, and other working men. Bandmaster Twitchin was summoned to the Palace, and the little Princesses welcomed him. “ I did not know whether to kiss them or not,” said Bandmaster Twitchin, “ but I thought I had better not, and so shook hands with them.”

Their Majesties complimented the band on its performance.
