GOOD TEMPLARY

The weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge, which was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Kensington, was presided over by Bro. Janies Hilton, C.T. There was a good attendance of members and visitors. Correspondence was received from the grand secretary on matters connected with Grand Lodge session at Easter, and the guides for the current quarter were to hand. Reports showed an improvement in health of those laid aside with sickness. Favourable comment was made on the Radiant Morn and Star of the South Temples. The remits to the Grand Lodge were discussed, and the G.L. Reception Committee reported favourably in connection with the final arrangements. After the business had been conducted solos were rendered by Sisters Leishman and Donaldson. Supper was provided, and the usual ceremonies brought the session to a close. Prior to the adult lodge meeting the Star of the South Juvenile held its weekly meeting. Sis. D. M‘Farlane, C.T., presided over a large attendance. Two new candidates were initiated. The practising of odes was carried out, and Rsu* B were also rendered by the following: E. Idour, L. Reid, N. Conor, G. Wilson, and C. Cameron. A lucky seat competition resulted: —George Wilson 1, Ernest Thornley 2, Gordon Reid 3. A vote ot thanks was accorded the visitors, and was carried by acclamation. Mrs Giles presided over a good attendance of members, visitors being present from Rescue, Star of Freedom and Hope of Dunedin Lodges. The programme for the evening was “Irish Night,” Bro. Cochrane being in charge. The following rendered items: —Reading, “St. Patrick,” Sis. Pauli; surprise packet, Sis. Pauli; duet, Sis. Leichman and Sis. Steedman; sketch. The Irish School Mistress,” Sis. Pauli and pupils; mandolin solo, Bro. Cochrane; mouth organ solo, Bro. Crawshaw. Chief Templar Bro. L. Andrews presided over a large attendance of members at the weekly meeting of the Radiant Mom Juvenile Temple, held in the Mornington Methodist Sunday School Hall, on Saturday last. The superintendent was in charge. District superintendent Bro. Hilton, who was present, conveyed the greetings of Star of Hope Temple, Waitati. Under the leadership of Bro. Hilton, the members practised the odes tor the forthcoming juvenile concert. The programme for the evening was Bun Competition.” Sis. T. Pauli was in charge. The winners were Bros. Harold White and L. Andrews. Sis. Alice Reeves rendered an item. The Hope of Dunedin Lodge, 1.0.G.i., held its weekly meeting on Wednesday. C.T. Bro. E. J. South presided over a good attendance of members. Visitors were present from Star of Freedom and Rescue Lodges. One candidate was initiated. Sis. Raynor, S.J.W., gave a very favourable report on the juvenile branch. Correspondence was read from Bro. Rennie, G.S.J.W., and also from the grand secretary. Reports were received from the representatives of the G.L.R.C. The Silver Star Temple also m °r'he Star of Freedom held its fortnightly meeting in the Kaikorai Presbyterian Sunday School Hall. Chief Templar Sis. N. Patterson presided over a fair attendance of officers and members. A vote of thanks was passed to Bro. S. Sell for his report on the Grand Lodge Reception Committee. Bros. Scott and Patterson were elected as representatives to the Grand Lodge, and Bro. MTntyre to act on the Sports Committee. Greetings were received from Bro. Hilton, D.S.J.W. of Rescue Lodge. The harmony for the evening was sacred and temperance, Sisters M’Kenzie and Sinclair being in charge. The programme was as follows: —Organ solo. Sis. Robinson: duet. Sis. A. and J. Duff; recitation.
