THE CENTRAL MISSION APPEAL

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —There appears to have been considerable laxity in the selection of the box collectors for the Central Missions appeal. I was “stuck up”—yes, that is the only expression which fits—by a collector on Friday evening. His form of address was most abusive, and if there had been a policeman handy I should have put the collector in charge; in a less public place a jolly good hiding would probably have filled the bill. In future, so far as I am concerned, appeals for the unemployed will fall on deaf ears. —I am, etc., Civility. March 19.
