MOTOR CAR SERVICES
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I see the Central _ Licensing , Authority has given its decision on the applications for motor service licenses. I wonder if anyone has suggested what the particular requirements of a district are. Take our district of Roxburgh. I understand the members of the Central Licensing Authority are strangers to Central Otago. Would it not have assisted them better to arrive at a decision if they knew the requirements of the district instead of leaving it to each service to boost itself? From the paper I see that we get two services away from there at 7 a.m. (are they justified?), two at 12.30, and one at 1.15. The Licensing Authority has, moreover, cut out what I considered the most useful service for our district —that which left here at 3,30 p.m. and got to town about 7 p.m., and which left Dunedin at mid-day and got up here about 3.30. I am left, therefore, in doubt whether the requirements of the district were, as well as the views of the service car owners, taken into account. —I am, etc., Roxburohite.
