BOXING
TO-NIGHT’S CONTEST ✓ Boxing enthusiasts are looking forward to the contest to be staged to-night at His Majesty’s Theatre between Alan Campbell, the New Zealand heavy-weight champion, and Jim Broadfoot, of Auckland. The title is not involved. Broadfoot is in excellent form, and expects to defeat the champion. There is no pronounced favourite, but whatever the result may be patrons can be assured of a rattling good go between two physi-cally-fit men. The bout should easily eclipse the famous M'Cleary-M'Quarrie contest staged by the association 10 years ago. Bert Lowe is sure to attract a good deal of attention in his bout with George M'Ewen, of Invercargill. Lowe has many k.o.’s to his credit, and he will doubtless go for one on this occasion, as he has a solid punch with weight behind it. M'Ewcn is good on infighting and short jabs, and has smart footwork. Both Davis and Prendergast are solid punchers who can stand a lot of punishment, and this bout should also be well worth watching. Excellent arrangements have been made to handle the crowd at His Majesty’s Theatre tonight.
