MONEY IN BASEBALL
BABE RUTH’S FEE CONTRACT NOT YET SIGNED. NEW YORK, January 14. (Received Jan. 15, at 9 p.m.) There is a variety of proofs that the depression has struck America. Babe Ruth to-day returned without having signed his contract in which he asks for 70,000 dollars as payment for the 1932 baseball season. He said he would accept a 10,000-dollar reduction under last year’s payment, but he must have a twoyear contract. The baseball club management recently declared that “ Never again would there he a ball player worth 80,000 dollars.” An amicable adjustment is, however, expected.
