Y.M.C.A. CAMP

On Wednesday evening the campers at the Y.M.C.A. camp at Whare Flat were treated to a very enjoyable entertainment arranged by Mr R. P. Williams. The concert party was welcomed on arrival with the Y.M.C.A. war-cry by the 40 boys in camp. The programme was a very varied one, and nearly every item received an encore. Mr J. Kearsley opened with a pianoforte solo. Miss Evelyn Williams followed with the sailor’s hornpipe. Mr Eggers amused the audience with a ventriloquial act. Miss Eileen Howley, after rendering a song, led the audience in a community sing which was entered into with good spirit. Mr C. Abbott had the audience in hilarious laughter from the beginning of each item, and was always loudly encored. Miss Norma Williams gave a finished exhibition of a military dance, and also of a clog dance. A recitation, which proved very amusing, was “ A Presentation to a Country Vicar ” by Mr Ivan Davidson, who later rendered a violin solo. Mr Hamilton Davidson also rendered two humorous items, which were very much appreciated, and with these two sketches the programme was brought to a close.
