TRINITY CIRCUIT

.QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of Trinity circuit was held at Trinity Church on Monday. The Rev. H. E. Bellhouse presided over a fair attendance. Routine business having been disposed of, the balance sheet, which showed a credit balance on the quarter, was read and adopted. Apologies were received from several members, and a welcome was extended to Mr Vanes on his return from his trip abroad. Satisfactory collections were reported from North-East Valley and Woodhaugh. At the latter church the change from evening to morning service was found so satisfactory that it was resolved to continue the arrangement. A substantia] sum had been raised by the Woodhaugh Ladies’ Guild for the Trust Fund. Reports from the various Sunday schools showed that all branches were carrying on well. Miss Hancock, as leader of the North-East Valley Junior Christian Endeavour, was thanked for the endeavour’s efforts in collecting for the South Island Orphanage. It was reported that collections for foreign missions and also for the orphanage showed a decrease from last year. The suggestion was put forward by Mr Hayman that he, in co-operation with other members who owned cars, should take elderly people to church, and it was resolved that the suggestion be given consideration. The chairman spoke of the good effect that the combined services with the Moray Place Congregational Church were having. Messrs Frapwell and Christie were thanked for their past services as circuit stewards, and were re-elected to that office. Mr Christie was elected as delegate to the conference, with Mr Roberts as substitute.

The chairman paid a tribute to the memory of the late Mrs Andrew King, and members stood in silence for a few moments. Sympathy was expressed with Mr Harold King in his illness.
