TERRIFIC HEAT
QUEENSLAND SIMMERING • SEVERAL PEOPLE COLLAPSE. BRISBANE, January 14. Queensland simmered again in terrific heat. The thermometer soared to 120 degrees at Hughenden. Several people collapsed and an elderly woman died. There were storms at *' night, accompanied by lightning and fireballs. The latter were responsible for the death of several cattle.
