SHIPPING INDUSTRY
CONSTRUCTION . IN BRITAIN LOWEST FOR MANY YEARS. LONDON, January 12. The amount of shipping under construction in the United Kingdom in December was the lowest since 1887, according to Lloyd’s Register quarterly report, which gives the figures as 400,505 tons, representing a decrease of 10,880 tons compared with last September and 508,397 compared with December, 1930. 1,403,795 tons of shipping is under construction throughout the world. Of this per cent, is being built in the United Kingdom.
