ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION

SIR HUBERT WILKINS’S PLANS EXPEDITION WITH PLANE. NEW YORK, January 7. A message from Omaha (Nebraska) states that Sir Hubert Wilkins, who was forced down here on Wednesday night by unfavourable weather, outlined sketchy plans for another trip to one of the Poles. “I am going to Seattle to consult engineers regarding the construction of a special plane for use on an expedition that I have in mind,” he said. “If I can get what I want I shall have an announcement to make. There is still much work to be done both in the Arctic and the Antarctic. The interior of the Antarctic continent is virtually untouched. We can only guess at the secrets that are locked in the forbidding ranges. Aa attempt to disclose them is certainly worth while.” Sir Hubert Wilkins left for Seattle today by plane.
