LONDON'S BID FOR LEADERSHIP LEADING HOUSES COMBINE (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, January 7. (Received Jan. 8, at 8 p.m.) Fifty of the leading British fashion houses have agreed to combine to oust Paris from the leadership of the world's fashion. Each firm will retain its individuality, but they will all pool their experience. The idea is to devise dress displays on the scale of the Paris houses in order that buyers of the latest modes may see them under the best conditions. The keynote of the scheme will be less expensive clothes for women and no more freak fashions.
