WATERSIDE WORKERS
PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS REPEAL IN AUSTRALIA. CANBERRA, January 8. After a Cabinet meeting which lasted 12 hours Mr Lyons announced that Cabinet had decided to repeal the regu lations made under the Transport Workers Act giving preference to waterside union ists. Mr Lyons said these regulations had been made by the last Government after the Government had been defeated, and at a time when it did not have a majority in either House. The regulations . gave preference to members of the Waterside Workers’ Federation, which had been definitely refused by the Arbitration Court.
