DRUIDISM. The first meeting of the New Year held by Mistletoe Lodge, Green Island, was attended by a large number of members. Arch Druid Bro. G. Webster presiding. The sick pay was again very small, onlytwo members being on the list. One candidate was initiated into the lodge in a very impressive manner. Committee reports were received as follows: —From A.D. Bro. G. Webster, submitting balance sheet for the 1931 Euchre Committee; and from P.A. Bro. J. Logie, jun., in connection with Christmas tree and balance sheet for it. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to-the retiring Social and Euchre Committees for their services during the past 12 months. Bro. P. Jacobs (newly initiated brother) replied. The A.D. then adjourned the lodge for the purpose of carrying out the syllabus. This took the form of a euchre competition between teams chosen by the A.D. and vice arch. A very enjoyable game resulted in the A.D.’s team winning by seven games to three. The Lodge Otago meeting on December 21 last opened at 6.45 p.m., and only routine business was despatched so as to leave time for the children’s party. Inward correspondence contained several seasonal greetings from sister lodges and also an intimation that it would be necessary to conduct a second ballot for the position of D.P. The secretary was instructed to forward the usual Christmas donations to pensioner members. The children’s party which followed was a huge success. The loclgeroom was all too small to accommodate the crowd of happy children who assembled to partake of the Christmas cheer provided. Miss Gwen Webster and a party of juvenile pupils gave a very clever and amusing entertainment, and an interesting conjuring act was introduced by a well-known sleight-of-hand exponent. A party of energetic stewards dispensed a hearty supper. Father Christmas paid a visit during the evening and concluded the proceedings with the presentation of a suitable toy to each of the children present.
